I recently performed a show in a hospitality suite for a company who was hosting an enjoyable evening following an exciting day on the trade show floor. The suite was a small room that only 10-25 people would visit at a time. My job was to keep everyone entertained and to make sure that everyone had a memorable experience. I did this by performing sleight of hand magic and a bit of mind reading, while mingling amongst the group.
The very next day, I flew to catch a cruise ship in Juneau, Alaska. Here, I was performing in a state-of-the-art theater with 1,000 viewers at a time.
I then flew from the ship to New Orleans, where I performed in a banquet room for no more than 100 guests.
The importance of the story, is that magic can be performed, and hopefully enjoyed, in any sized venue…providing that the entertainer is flexible enough to adapt to the environment. When planning your next corporate party, it is important to take into consideration, the size of the venue, and also the number of people in attendance, when choosing your entertainment. In a smaller environment, it is sometimes best to skip the stage show and stick with strolling close-up magic. While this will not provide the same spectacle that a full show might provide, it will give everyone at the event a chance to experience the magic on a personal level. This is how you can make your event truly unforgettable. Generally, if you’re working with an experienced entertainer, he or she will be able to work with you in choosing the best possible arrangement for your particular event.
